3. Location Data Usage (Foreground & Background)
CruiseRadar GR accesses location data strictly to provide core road safety features, such as real-time speed camera warnings, speed limit alerts, and restricted traffic zone notifications while driving.
| Location Access | Purpose & Operation |
|---|---|
| Foreground Location | Used while the app is active and open on your screen to track your vehicle's position and issue visual and audible warnings relative to upcoming speed cameras and hazards ahead. |
| Background Location ("Allow all the time") | Required to automatically launch alerts when your phone connects to your car's Bluetooth system, even if the app is closed or not in use. It also allows speed camera alerts to run continuously while driving with the screen turned off or while using other applications (such as navigation or mapping apps). |
Android Prominent Disclosure: Before requesting background location permission ("Allow all the time"), the app presents an explicit prominent disclosure dialog detailing what location data is accessed, why it is accessed, and that it occurs when the app is closed. Users can choose to "Agree and continue" or "No thanks". Without background location permission, the app remains fully functional while open on the screen.
Privacy Guarantee: Location data is processed locally on your device in real time. Your location history is never saved, tracked, sold, or shared with third parties. Anonymous, non-identifiable map coordinates are only used to fetch nearby speed camera databases and fuel price updates.
4. Physical Activity Recognition
The Application requests the android.permission.ACTIVITY_RECOGNITION permission solely to detect when you are driving in a vehicle or riding a motorcycle. This feature automatically toggles speed camera alerts hands-free and pauses background monitoring when you are stationary or walking, significantly preserving battery life.
Health Policy Disclaimer: This app is not a health or fitness tracking application. Physical activity recognition data is processed exclusively on-device for driving status detection and is never collected, stored, aggregated, or shared for health or fitness purposes.
5. Foreground Services
To ensure continuous, uninterrupted road safety operations while driving, CruiseRadar GR utilizes Android Foreground Services accompanied by a mandatory persistent system notification:
locationForeground Service: Keeps active GPS monitoring operational when the screen is off or when another application is in the foreground, delivering uninterrupted alerts regarding speed cameras and road limits ahead.connectedDeviceForeground Service: Maintains a persistent Bluetooth connection with paired optional OBD-II diagnostic vehicle adapters during trips to read live engine data and diagnostic trouble codes.
